What Selv can read
Every source Selv can draw on, and why each one is off until you say otherwise.
Choose sources in Settings › Data Sources to add local context Selv can answer from.
Sources with their own page
- Apple Notes — import your Apple Notes into the knowledge graph.
- Documents, folders & Obsidian — point Selv at your own files and vaults.
- Calendar — bring meetings and plans into your memory.
- Browser history — what you were reading and researching.
Everything else Data Sources offers
- Clipboard History — remembers text you copy while Selv is running. Selv filters concealed entries and common password-manager clipboard items; avoid copying sensitive secrets while capture is enabled if they must never enter your memory.
- Chat Imports — WhatsApp and Telegram exports, parsed and indexed on-device.
- Journal Import — Day One and compatible JSON exports.
- Shell History — your terminal history, parsed on-device.
- Git Commits — local commit history per project, read directly from each repo's files.
- Reminders — your Apple Reminders: commitments, due dates, completion patterns.
- Apple Mail — Mail.app messages already on this Mac. Selv does not contact a mail server for this source.
- Notion — pages from a Notion integration you connect. Requests go from your Mac to Notion.
- Mail via IMAP — Proton Mail through Proton Bridge on this Mac, or Fastmail, iCloud Mail, or a host you enter.
Network paths for these sources are listed in What leaves this Mac.
