Selvmind is a private AI memory assistant for macOS. This policy describes how the App handles information about you.

The short version: Selvmind does not collect your data. Everything the App captures, processes, and stores stays on your device. We do not operate servers that receive your personal content. We do not sell, share, or transmit your memories, transcripts, or activity to anyone.

All of the following is processed and stored exclusively on your Mac:

- Audio recordings and transcripts — Microphone and system audio captured by the App is transcribed locally using an on-device AI model. No audio or transcript is uploaded to any server.

- Screenshots and OCR text — Screenshots taken by the App are processed locally for text recognition. No image or extracted text is transmitted externally.

- AI-generated summaries and memory entries — Responses from the on-device language model are stored in a local encrypted database. No prompts or model outputs leave your device.

- Search history and activity — Queries you run against your local memory index remain on-device.

All persistent data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher AES-256) on your Mac. The encryption key is derived from your device credentials and is never transmitted.

Selvmind does not collect, store remotely, or process server-side:

- Your name, email address, or any account information (the App has no accounts)

- Any content captured by the App (audio, transcripts, screenshots, OCR text)

- Your search queries or usage patterns

- Keystrokes or clipboard contents

- Location data

- Device identifiers for tracking purposes

The App includes an opt-in crash reporting feature powered by Sentry (sentry.io). This is disabled by default.

If you choose to enable crash reporting:

- What is sent: Anonymised crash stack traces, app version, and macOS version. No personal content (audio, transcripts, memory entries, or screenshots) is ever included.

- Who receives it: Sentry, Inc. (USA). Sentry processes data under a Data Processing Agreement compliant with GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses.

- Retention: Crash reports are retained for 90 days and then deleted.

- How to disable: App Settings → Privacy → Crash Reporting.

Selvmind does not include analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind. We do not know how often you use the App, which features you use, or how long your sessions last.

We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or any advertising technology. Your usage of Selvmind is never used for advertising purposes.

If you purchase a Selvmind license or subscription, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Selvmind receives a confirmation of payment and your license entitlement. We do not store your payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the payment transaction.

When you visit our website or sign up for our waitlist, we collect:

- Email address (if you sign up): used solely to notify you about App availability and send occasional updates. We will not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.

- Basic technical data: browser type, operating system, and page views — collected for site functionality and security. No cross-site tracking.

We use your email on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; Art. 6 nDSG). You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us.

Selvmind is designed to be compliant with the GDPR by architecture. Because the App processes all personal content locally on your device and does not transmit it to us, we do not act as a data controller for your personal memories and captured content.

Where we do act as a data controller:

- Crash reports (opt-in): Legal basis — Legitimate interest (product stability). Retention — 90 days.

- Payment records: Legal basis — Legal obligation / contract. Retention — 10 years (Swiss accounting law).

- Waitlist emails: Legal basis — Consent. Retention — Until unsubscribed.

Your rights under GDPR: Access, rectification, erasure, data portability, restriction of processing, right to object, right to withdraw consent.

For your local App data, your rights are exercised directly within the App — you can view, export, and delete all your data at any time.

Selvmind complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG, in force since 1 September 2023).

We do not process your personal content (memories, audio, screenshots) — it never leaves your device. For data we do process (crash reports, payment records), we apply appropriate technical and organisational security measures and retain data only as long as necessary.

You have the right to request information about personal data we hold, request correction or deletion, and object to processing in certain circumstances.

- All local App data is encrypted at rest using SQLCipher (AES-256).

- No personal content is transmitted over any network.

- Crash reports (if enabled) are transmitted over TLS to Sentry.

- Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe over TLS.

Your local data: All your memories, transcripts, and captured content can be exported from within the App. Deleting the App and its associated data from your Mac permanently removes all locally stored content. We have no copy of it.

Data we hold: Contact privacy@selvmind.app to request a copy or deletion of crash reports or payment records.

Selvmind is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because no data is collected server-side, no special parental controls are required.

We will update this policy when our practices change. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via the website. Continued use of the App after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Switzerland. Disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Zug, Switzerland, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
