Install & requirements

What your Mac needs

• macOS — 26 or later
• Chip — Apple silicon (M1 or later)
• Memory — 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended
• Storage — allow at least 7 GB for the app and its initial models on a 32 GB Mac, plus room for your memories. Apertus 1.5 8B uses about 4.6 GB on disk; transcription, search and voice detection bring the model download to about 6.1 GB. Smaller Macs download smaller models; your selection and sizes are shown before downloading.

Selv does its AI work on your Mac, not in the cloud — the memory requirement above is what makes that possible. There's no Windows or Linux build yet.

Installing

1. During this private beta, use the installer link supplied with your invitation. There is no public download button yet. A waitlist signup does not download or purchase the app.
2. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Selv into your Applications folder.
3. Eject the disk image, then launch Selv from Applications (or Spotlight).

If the install won't open

If macOS blocks the installer or Selv does not launch, email support@selv.io with your macOS version and the message you saw. Do not disable macOS security protections to run a blocked download.
