Set up your client
One click configures the client. Selv itself is where you authorize it — nothing sensitive is ever in the link.
Claude Desktop
Ask Claude what you were working on last Tuesday, what was decided in a meeting, or what you wrote about something months ago — and get an answer from your own memory instead of a guess.
No one-click installer yet — add this to your config by hand:
{
"mcpServers": {
"selv": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "node",
"args": [
"/Applications/Selv.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/index.cjs"
]
}
}
}Claude Code
Claude Code stops asking you to re-explain the project. It can look up the decision you made three weeks ago, in your own words.
Run this once, then click Authorize in Selv:
claude mcp add selv --env SELV_MCP_CLIENT_ID=claude-code --env SELV_MCP_CLIENT='Claude Code' -- node /Applications/Selv.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/index.cjsClaude Code keeps its settings in a large file it rewrites constantly, so Selv hands you the command instead of editing it underneath a running session. Run it once, then click Authorize here.
Cursor
Cursor can look up why the code got this way — the thread, the meeting, the note you wrote at the time — without you digging it out.
VS Code
Copilot can check what you already worked out, instead of suggesting the thing you tried and rejected last month.
Codex
Let your local Codex client request context from Selv after you authorise it.
In Selv, open Settings → AI Agents, choose Codex, and follow its setup instructions. Return to Selv to authorise the connection. Selv prepares the configuration or command required by this client.
This configures the local Codex client. It does not connect ChatGPT on the web or your phone.
LM Studio
A model running on your own machine, answering from your own memory. Nothing at all leaves this Mac — not even the question.
Windsurf
Cascade can pull up the context behind the code instead of guessing at it.
Add this to .codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"selv": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "node",
"args": [
"/Applications/Selv.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/index.cjs"
]
}
}
}Goose
Goose can look things up in your memory while it works.
In Selv, open Settings → AI Agents, choose Goose, and follow its setup instructions. Return to Selv to authorise the connection. Selv prepares the configuration or command required by this client.
Goose keeps its config in YAML; Selv shows the command rather than rewriting a format it cannot round-trip safely.
